Ampere Analysis has stated that, in November 2024, “Call of Duty HQ,” covering “Black Ops 6” and “Warzone,” had about 38 million monthly active users. By December, 64% of consumer spending on Microsoft’s games was said to have been attributed to the PlayStation console; most of this spending has been attributed to “Call of Duty.” The game received rave reviews and sales, further sealing Microsoft’s dominance in the industry.

Microsoft’s software and game publishing units were doing great, whereas the hardware unit was not that good. Sales of Xbox consoles came in lower than expected, reflecting a transition toward cross-platform gaming and/or the relative strength of Microsoft’s game franchises on non-Xbox platforms.
